Joseph Pilates grew up suffering from rickets, asthma and rheumatic fever and would have been considered today as someone with special conditions. He became obsessed with the frailties of the body and through his study of the musculature was determined to overcome his own afflictions. And hence what we now call Pilates was born.
Everything from Arthritis, Osteoporosis, Hypermobility, Sciatica, to less well known conditions such as Charcot Marie Tooth Disease will all benefit from movements which:
